Saving on Milk

Last week I confessed some of the areas I could be saving more on in my grocery budget, but I failed to mention milk.  Like most people we buy milk every week and it's a hard product to find ways to save on!  We typically buy store brand milk, but also switch to Roberts milk since they frequently offer coupons in the Sunday inserts.  You can also register online at Roberts Dairy to have access to printable coupons including Save $0.55 off any gallon Roberts Milk.   I'm going confess something else to you - I'm the person who makes sure she grabs extra Adventureland maps when I visit just to get the Hy-Vee milk coupon!  If there are other places to find milk coupons like that I'd love to hear about them!  How do you save on milk?

  1. What's the milk coupon in the Adventureland map?

I'm not sure of current milk prices, but in the winter I could find milk cheapest at Aldi - even cheaper than using coupons at other stores. We don't use a ton of milk, though, so I don't pay a lot of attention to milk prices. And I know prices have been on the rise lately, so I don't know if it's still true that Aldi has the cheapest milk.

  2. I stumbled your post...and I buy an extra gallon or two when I see it marked down because its getting close to it's expiration date. Our Kroger will mark it down to $1 a gallon, (from 3.49) if it is close to the expiration date. I will pick up a couple of extra gallons, since my boys will go through two gallons in a week, sometimes more!

  4. Glad I'm not alone w/ picking up the Adventureland maps! It's too bad I only visit once a year.

@Michelle - on the back of Adventureland maps they have a Hy-Vee store coupon to save $0.50 on a gallon of Hy-Vee milk - they've had that coupon on there for several years

@Kay - I wish I could find somewhere around here that marks down milk to $1/gallon! That's awesome!

  10. Milk has become outrageous! There are definitely huge savings to be had by buying store brand. I actually know someone who works for PET and she always says 'buy the store brand!'. It's the same milk, just put into a different jug!
