Frugal Tuesday Tip - Shop Your Local Ethnic Food Stores

Here is my tip of the week!  Take advantage of the local ethnic food stores in your area.  When we are in the neighborhood we like to visit these markets and always have certain items we like to get there that we can save big on compared to chain grocery store prices.  Items we can save on by buying at our local Hispanic market include cilantro, limes, rice and salsa verde.  We get our sesame oil at an Asian market in town.

  2. There are so many ethnic grocery stores in Des Moines! On the East side alone (2nd Ave to the Fairgrounds and North of Grand) there are 2 Mexican Bakeries and 10 grocery stores-- 5 Mexican, 1 Thai, 3 Oriental, and 1 African. Prices are very cheap in some of them!
