Family Travel Review ~ LEGOLAND Discovery Center Kansas City

One of our weekend road trips this past summer was to Kansas City.  We drove down from Des Moines early on a Saturday morning and headed straight to Crown Center.  Our plan was to visit the LEGOLAND Discovery Center then head over to Crown Center for lunch and then visit Sea Life.  This plan worked out really well and allowed us to do a lot in one day.  I had gotten my tickets in advance so we were guaranteed entry.  I highly recommend ordering your tickets in advance if you are planning a visit as the lines can get long especially on holidays and weekends.  If you're not ordering in advance you may want to arrive prior to opening.

Explore LEGOLAND Discovery Center Kansas City, the ultimate indoor playground for kids who are the biggest fans of LEGO! LEGOLAND Discovery Center Kansas City is one of Kansas City's best attractions for kids! Reach out and touch the stars in our 4D cinema, build the fastest car in LEGO Racers: Build & Test, zap the bad guys in Kingdom Quest Laser Ride, or have the ultimate LEGO birthday party. Plan your family visit and jump into the biggest box of LEGO bricks!

The first stop on your visit is the LEGO Master Builder Academy.  Here they show you how LEGOs are made and you each get a little LEGO souvenir.  What surprised me this visit was how interested my oldest son was in checking out the master builder's office.  He wanted to be sure I took pictures of it.  He was a bit fascinated.  Be sure to check it out as you could easily walk past and miss it.

Our favorite part was still LEGO MINILAND.  We loved the mini Kansas City displays.  They are interactive and pretty incredible.  My daughter had fun racing on the Kansas Speedway while it appeared to be nighttime.  It's fun to see how all the displays change from day into night and back again.

This year our little guy was able to play too.  He was very happy to have some LEGOs to play with.  He had quite a bit of fun playing in Olivia's House as well.

We made sure to watch a show at the LEGO Studios 4D Cinema.  I like that they show different features.  Last year we saw one with Clutch Powers and this year we experienced Legends of Chima.

It was an extremely hot weekend at the time we visited so we were glad that LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Kansas City is an all indoors attraction.  It also means you can enjoy it in any season and any type of weather.  It even has a couple of small rides to go on and you can explore any way you want once you are inside taking as much time as you want.

NEW FOR 2015: Come and visit the LEGO Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope Miniland Model Display that is open now! As part of the new intergalactic exhibit, guests can help the Rebel Alliance destroy the Galactic Empire's powerful Death Star, experience the epic duel between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, watch in awe as the Millennium Falcon rises from the deserts of Tatooine, discover the bustling city of Mos Eisley, and take in the busy cantina where the band plays its familiar tune and dangerous characters lurk in dark corners.
