Zaycon Foods was back in Des Moines this past October and I got a chance to once again try their fresh boneless, skinless chicken breasts. My family eats a lot of chicken for meals so buying it from Zaycon where we can get a lot of great tasting meat for an even better price is a good choice for us. Zaycon Foods is able to sell its products at bulk rate prices to its customers because they organize sales events in areas all around the country that bring the customers together in one place.
I ordered my case of chicken in advance of the October sales event. I appreciated receiving reminders both via email and the phone regarding when and where to pick my meat up. This was the first time I had been to a sales event for a pick-up and I couldn't believe how quick and easy it was. They usually set up an hour of time at the event location (to find locations near you visit Zaycon). When I arrived about 20 minutes after the event started I had only a few cars in front of me and hardly had to wait. It was so convenient being able to pull up and provide my name. They had my box of chicken and loaded it in the trunk for me. They even put plastic down to ensure no mess would be made.
The easy part is getting the chicken. The hard part comes when you get it home. A case of 40 lbs. of chicken comes as pictured above. At that point you need to cut the chicken breasts and repackage it in the way the works best for your family. My hubby did the cutting and I did the wrapping in plastic. We tried to get it into about one pound packages but probably ended up with actually a little more than 40 packages of chicken. There was some fat to be trimmed in the process, but honestly very little waste. It is great chicken.
Then you just need to make sure you have room in your freezer or deep freeze for 40 lbs. of chicken. The nice thing about Zaycon is that if don't have the space you can always go in with your family or friends and take advantage of the discounts they offer.
Zaycon currently has events taking place for Ham and Ground Beef plus their Spring Chicken sales. For the Des Moines area the Ham and Ground Beef events are sold out, but you can order your chicken now for when they'll be back in February. They are selling their boneless, skinless chicken breasts for just $1.89 lb. It's easy to order. Just visit Zaycon Foods and create your account. Then view the events closest to you.
