Family Travel Review ~ Branson's Castle Rock Resort & Waterpark

My family recently traveled the 6 1/2 hour trip south to Branson, Missouri.  It had been four years since our last visit and we were excited to go back!  I love visiting Branson in early November because the weather is typically beautiful and the holidays have officially been kicked off there.  After spending our Friday at Silver Dollar City where my hubby and son took numerous roller coaster rides and we all enjoyed the millions of lights on display we headed to our weekend destination of Castle Rock Resort & Waterpark.  We checked in around 9:30pm that night.  We were all tired so I was very thankful the check-in process was quick & simple and in no time we were headed to our room.  

Upon entry to our room located in The Tower, the main part of the hotel, we had the sink and counter to our right and bathroom with toilet and tub/shower to our left.  

 

Our room had two double beds, refrigerator, flat panel TV, table and chairs and plenty of dresser space.  

The most exciting part of the room for the kids was their own little alcove with bunk beds and their own flat panel TV.  Although the water park was still open at the time we checked in we were all wiped out from our day at the theme park and decided to hit the water park at opening Saturday morning.

This was our view from the elevator lobby and it definitely got the kids excited to be in the water.  We got our wrist bands for the waterpark when we checked into the hotel and they were good for our entire stay.  With those on and ready to go we all headed down to the park.  Our first stop was the lazy river because it was something we could all do together.  

The lazy river was my daughter's absolute favorite part of the 30,000 sq. ft. indoor waterpark.  She liked both swimming in it and riding in a tube and loved going under the waterfalls.  

My son had an awesome time on both of the three-story water slides.  His favorite was the tube slide and my hubby will confess it was his favorite as well.  

 

 

When my daughter got her fill of the lazy river she was happy playing in the kiddie pools.  There's also a standard swimming pool that my family spent a lot of time in.  My daughter got to have fun with Daddy and my son worked on his treading water skills.  I appreciated that Castle Rock had plenty of children's life jackets available so my daughter could swim to her little heart's content in the lazy river and I also liked that they had plenty of tables and chairs available for those who just wanted to observe the action or keep a watch on family members.

We spent a lot of time in the water park during our stay.  On Saturday we spent several hours before heading out to a visitor center, dinner and walk by Table Rock Lake.  Saturday night my hubby and kids were back at the waterpark.  Sunday morning they were there again when it opened and stayed for a couple of hours.  Even though check out is at 11am you can utilize the waterpark for the entire day if you like.  We weren't able to because we had to head back to Des Moines, but it's nice the option is available.  My one tip for the waterpark is to be sure you bring coverups or a few extra towels to wrap up in for when you are walking back to your room.  Although the water park has plenty of towels available there they don't want them leaving the water park which can make for a chilly return to your room if not prepared.

Castle Rock also has a smaller outdoor water park that is seasonal, but it wasn't in use in November.  Plus they have a Tower Grill available for dining. I believe it had a breakfast buffet available during our stay, but we didn't take advantage of it.  When traveling we like to discover local treats and were fortunate that Castle Rocks' convenient location meant it was close to both cinnamon roll and donut shops that my hubby went out to and picked up breakfast for us at.  

Castle Rock's location on Green Mountain Drive is great because if you have ever been to Branson you know the traffic on the strip (Highway 76) can be horrendous.  Being on Green Mountain Drive you can bypass a lot of the traffic, but you are still really close to all of Branson's attractions.

My kids loved the water park and they would definitely love to go back.  It's perfect for visiting when the weather is a little colder and you want to stay indoors or if you're needing some water fun but getting a boat out on the lake isn't an option.  To learn more and to plan your next stay be sure to visit their website www.CastleRockBranson.com.
