I'll confess that I'm pretty old school when it comes to playing games on my phone. Although I have downloaded just about every free app that has come around since I've had a smartphone I mostly get them for my kids to play on the kindle. I've never played a game of Angry Birds, Words with Friends or Temple Run. The only two games I ever play are Solitaire and Tetris. In fact a nice long game of Tetris just helped me pass the time on our recent road trip. That's why I was excited to hear that Hasbro has teamed up with Tetris to add a new twist to a couple of their classic games, including the game Jenga.
Although the object of Jenga Tetris is the same as classic Jenga, to be the last one to successfully remove and replace a piece in the tower before it gets knocked down, the Tetris version is a little different. First of all you have 6 different shapes of pieces so when the tower gets set up it already has gaps. Because of this I think the game play is a little shorter than normal. Also this version of the game doesn't come with a piece that helps with setting up so I think the set up takes a bit longer. No matter though because it's still a fun game with the same anticipation of collapsing the tower.
We actually don't own the classic version of Jenga so this was the first time I've ever played the game with my kids. They loved the colorful game pieces and got very excited whenever they successfully took their turn. It was funny to watch my daughter the first time she played because she was very anxious about knocking it over. Lucky for her Mommy was the one who made it come crashing down.
