Kelly Kits is a subscription based company that will send
you everything you need for a fun and creative art project once a month for one or two children.
I received the art play activity for July from Kelly
Kits. The art technique for July was
Printmaking and the activity was Sponge & Stamp. One of the great features of Kelly Kits for
someone like me is that they don’t just send you the package and expect you to
know just what to do with it. Yes, it
does come with instructions, but what’s even better for a visual learner like me
is that they share instructional videos on theire website. My 3 year-old daughter watched the video with
me and it got her really excited to do some painting. She was disappointed when I told her we were
going to wait until her brother got home from school.
On the walk home he quickly agreed to do an art project with
us. He was intrigued when I said it
involved sponges and paint, but he was confused when he didn’t see the sponges
in the materials I laid out. When he
learned that part of the activity was making the sponges he thought it was
pretty cool. He decided he wanted to
make a Mickey sponge. He had good
intentions when drawing on the special paper provided, but once he started
cutting we had to alter his plan a bit.
He ended up with a couple of circle sponges one big and one small
perfect for stamping a Mickey shape on his paper.
Then my daughter decided she wanted Minnie Mouse so I helped her with that. They both had great fun dipping their sponges in the paint and pressing it on the paper. Yes, their fingers got messy but that part of the fun. After they were done with their Mickey shapes they had even more fun cutting the sponge paper in new ways and making new stamps. I let them do it however they wanted and it was great that way. There was enough paint provided in the kit that we’ll be able to do some more sponge stamping again soon.
I loved that there was little to nothing outside of the box that had to be provided. I only had to put some water in a small cup for the sponges and get an extra set of scissors out since they both wanted to cut at the same time. Their fingers and placemats were messy with paint, but very easily cleaned up with a wet washcloth. It really was simple and provided them with almost an hour of entertainment and creative play.
The cost for an annual subscription to Kelly Kits is $99 and includes the kit with everything you’ll need and online access to their instructional videos. Shipping and handling is also included in that price. You can also purchase the kit monthly and pay $9.99 a month plus $2.49 shipping. Head over to Kelly Kits or watch the video below to learn more.

ReplyDeletei like this idea and wish i seen them soonere
ReplyDeletei ordered the free kit (and paid shipping) and also watched the instructional video with my kiddo - he was SO excited to start, and usually he doesn't care much for artistic endeavors so it was encouraging - then again, he had step by step instructions to follow... i'm sure if he was just given the tools and told to use his imagination and creativity, he wouldn't be so thrilled.
