Fried Rice

2 cups cooked rice
1 bunch green onion
1 cup frozen peas
3 beaten eggs
3 T. soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp sweet basil
1 cup cooked meat (we use whatever we have on hand / leftover chicken/pork/steak)

Heat canola oil in wok or large fry pan.  Add diced green onion.  Saute until tender.  Add beaten eggs.  Fry until eggs are cooked.  Dice eggs.  Add meat and peas.  Heat through.  Add sesame oil, basil, ginger and rice then soy sauce.  Stir and mix thoroughly.  Add more soy sauce add desired.

  1. I never realized what a pretty basic recipe will produce fried rice. And we all love it in our home!

  2. Everytime my husband orders Fried Rice in a Chinese restaurant - I think to myself how inexpensive it must be to make at home - not to mention a perfect catch-all recipe for using up bits and pieces of leftovers taking space in the fridge - AND everyone seems to like it!

In the past when I've looked for recipes they were either way too long, too unhealthy sounding, and finally not very tempting (sounding pretty banal in taste with using - no fresh garlic (nor ginger much less basil) - none of the ingredients that make your easy recipe sound so good with nice complex flavors. Thanks!

  9. Waaw. Seems to be the easiest Fried Rice recipe. I use to add ready-made fried rice powder. But Now I think I can avoid that. Thank you so much for this recipe,
