With family birthdays in almost every month of the year I am always on the lookout for unique and fun gift ideas.  And truthfully I always enjoy finding something special for myself as well.  Novica.com is one of those sites where I start looking for someone else and always end up seeing something I would love to have.  Novica is a fashion and home decor website that is affiliated with National Geographic. Gifts bought at this site are not only unique, but also support fair trade. Through Novica artisans are directly connected to the consumer and artisans are allowed control over their products. When you purchase products from Novica you'll not only get a unique piece, but you'll also get to learn about the artist who created it.

The Novica site is very easy to navigate and to search by multiple categories. This visit I decided to shop for my niece.  Under the Fashion category they have a large section of handbags.  I chose to search for owls and was pleased to see they had many different products with cute owl designs.  I ordered this tote bag with the "Playful Owls" design for her.  An awesome benefit of Novica is that they offer free gift wrap for most of their items so you can order and have a beautiful gift sent straight to your recipient.

One of my favorite things to shop for is picture frames and the selection at Novica is amazing.  There are so many colorful frames to choose from.  You can find them under Home Decor accessories.  I fell in love with this Blue Goa Sea frame and ended up getting it after several visits to the site.

I love the combination of teal and royal blue in the frame.  It matches my bedding, so I have this one displayed on my work desk which is also in my bedroom, but I feel like I should be displaying it in another part of the house because I like it so much.

When shopping at Novica you'll be introduced on the site to the artisans that make the items you're looking at.  The gift also arrives with a note from the Novica artisan which makes the item even more unique.  My frame arrived with a postcard from India thanking me for my support.

The items I ordered were made in different parts of the world so they were shipped separately.  I thought they both arrived pretty quickly. If ordering for a gift though I would allow at least 3 weeks for the product to arrive.

To date Novica has sent over $66.5 million to artisans around the world to preserve the arts in a mass produced world.  Be sure to check out Novica to find perfect gifts for yourself as well as others and support artisans from around the world.
