Madonna's #RebelHeart Album Review #O2O

Disclosure:  I participated in the Madonna Rebel Heart album review program as a member of One2One Network. I was provided an album to review but all opinions are my own.

It feels like I have listened to Madonna's music my entire life.  In elementary school I adored the song "Borderline" and I will still belt it out when I hear it. As I grew up Madonna's music was still always there although it was always a different sounding Madonna.  One thing that has never changed is her pursuit of making music that not only reinvents her but that also pushes boundaries.  Her latest album Rebel Heart does just that.  The album is explicit which means my kids aren't listening to most of this one.  I'm not a stickler for language in music with them most of the time, but when it is of a certain nature it's not happening.

Rebel Heart is Madonna's 13th studio album.  On it there are multiple collaborations including Nicki Minaj, Kanye West and even Mike Tyson!  She also worked with multiple producers including Diplo, Ryan Tedder, Avicii and many more. I think that the number of producers may be why the album doesn't have any one consistent sound.  It changes from track to track and you're not sure what you're going to hear next.  It's funny because I actually listened to the last song which is the title track first and it sounded pretty laid back, but it doesn't sound anything like the rest of the album to me.

The album opener is "Living For Love".  You can watch the video for that song here:

There are definitely songs that are great dance tracks including this one, "Iconic" and "Holy Water".  In the later she even samples "Vogue", so if you've been longing to break out those moves again you have a new excuse.  My favorite track on the album is "Body Shop".  I like the different vocal tone and just the overall uniqueness of the whole song.
