EatSmart Precision Elite Food Thermometer Review

If you've seen the movie Bridesmaids there is no doubt that you can visualize the horror of eating under-cooked meat.  It is not a pretty picture.  Many years ago I got food poisoning from a restaurant and it was one worst times I've been ill.  Once you experience that you never want to go through it again.  That is one of the reasons you want to always keep your food preparation area sanitized and use the proper tools to ensure you that the food you are cooking is safe to eat.

EatSmart makes many products that our tools we can use to lead a healthier lifestyle.  Cooking our food properly is one part of that and their Precision Elite Food Thermometer is the tool for the job.  Their Precision Elite Food Thermometer is designed for home chefs and provides super fast temperature readings with a range from -40F - 572F.

I got this tool for my hubby who cooks the meals for the family.  He enjoys grilling and grills a lot of meat for us outside.  He also wants to smoke meat more.  In the winter he cooks many meals with meat as an ingredient in the oven either in the roasting pan or casserole dishes.  He wanted it to be able to eliminate the guesswork when cooking meat.  It would be an awful feeling serving something to your family that made them sick and this helps prevent that.

The EatSmart thermometer comes with a nice nylon case for storage and folds easily so that is stored safely and does not take up much space in a kitchen drawer.  It comes with two AAA batteries so it's ready to use immediately after a quick wash.

When you're ready to use the thermometer you just unfold the probe and insert the thermometer into the food.  I found references online on the best place to insert it for different types of meat, but typically in the center.  The large LCD display makes it very easy to read.  You can switch the temperature setting between Fahrenheit and Celsius.  The reading will be stable after being placed for  just 3-7 seconds.  You can use the hold feature to lock the temperature and get a safe reading.

It is also has a back-light feature you can use which makes it nice if using it on an item inside of oven.

When grilling chicken it was good to know that even though the outside looked cooked the chicken was not quite ready to eat yet.  I found it interesting to learn that it can be beneficial to have a food thermometer even when cooking casseroles and heating leftovers.  Sometimes our meals can be rushed when we are running from one place to another so we may grab something out of the oven hurriedly and the thermometer is a good way for us to check whether or not we should be putting it on the table.

The EatSmart Precision Elite Thermometer is a great kitchen tool to have on hand for all cooks and it comes with a two year full warranty. We haven't used it for baking yet, but I'd love you hear your ideas for how it can be used.
