We are a family that loves to travel and have kids that don't mind being in the car for a while as long as they are looking forward to the destination. That means multiple hours in the car and more often than not that means the kids catch up on some sleep while we're on the road. We've been sticking close to home this summer mostly because of baby #3, but that doesn't mean there hasn't been some sleeping kids in the car. We love to go to outdoor concerts and our kids like them too until about 11:00 at night when they are ready to go to bed. Most recently we went to the Iowa State Fair after my husband got off of work which meant a full night of enjoying fair food and fun. By the time we were close to home my oldest son was out cold.
Thankfully I received an awesome new product this summer that has made times like these more comfortable for the kids. The Cardiff booster seat headrest was designed with kids in mind by a dad who was tired of seeing the heads of his kids bobbing around when they fell asleep in the car. The Cardiff headrest attaches to the car's existing headrest and provides support on the sides for your child's head and neck so they can stay upright.
I love this picture of the inventor's twins as a comparison between the children sleeping with and without the Cardiff headrest. It's easy to see which child will sleep more comfortably and likely be more pleasant to deal with after that trip! Here's how it works:
My kids fought over who got to try the Cardiff headrest first and my son won the battle. My hubby installed the headrest. It attached easily to the bars of the existing headrest for the seat. There is a button on the Cardiff headrest that you press to adjust the height of it. It adjusts easily and can work just as well for an adult as a child. The Cardiff headrest can also be pushed up and out of the way when it's not wanted or needed. It's nice that you don't have to take it completely off, but can still move it out of the way.
My son really likes the Cardiff headrest and I like seeing him resting without looking completely uncomfortable. I also really liked reading that it has been crash tested to demonstrate that it does not negatively impact or interfere with booster seat performance. I'm not sure Mr. T will give it up to let his little sister have a turn with it so we may be investing in another one for the family.
You can buy the headrest on Amazon and directly on the Cardiff website. You can also connect with the brand on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.
