I received the books below for the purpose of a review.
You may recognize the name Barron's because they are one of the leading publishers of educational books. Personally I remember Barron's the most from working with their college test preparation books. I recently learned though that Barron's also publishes children's books. Their newest chapter book series is one I think you and the kids in your life will love.
The Awesome Animals series introduces the reader to sets of unique animal characters that have fun adventures. The animals all have personalities that make them easy to relate too, but also behave as those animals would in their environments. All of the chapter books introduce their main characters with pictures at the beginning of the books and have illustrations throughout.
Penguin Pandemonium Rory and his penguin pals are in a panic! Their zoo might have to close if more people don't come to visit. So when the zookeeper installs a penguin cam, the determined birds decide to put on a talent show starring a very daring stunt team. Will the penguins' performance save the zoo or will it just be pandemonium?
Meerkat Madness Mimi, Skeema, and Little Dream love hearing tales from their Uncle's glory days- stories of the Upworld, of befriending blah-blahs, and battling the enemies in the grasses and the skies...they're just not quite sure they believe him. But when they find a mysterious object buried in the sand, it isn't long before they are caught up in a daring adventure of their own!
Raccoon Rampage The Hole-in-the-Tree gang are the most daring raccoons in town. But when they carry out the biggest, boldest height of their lives, they find a posse on their trail - and after their tails! Will these cubs lose their cool on the run or have a wild time in the big, bright city?
Panda Panic Sit around eating bamboo all day? No way! Ping wants to have wild adventures. So when he hears that one lucky panda will get a chance to travel the world, he can hardly contain his excitement! But how can he make sure it's him that gets chosen?
I'm currently reading these books with my seven year-old son. I let him pick which book we read first and he decided on Rory and his penguin pals. We read one or two chapters of the book together a night. I love how each of the penguins had their own very distinct personality and characteristics. It was a fun book to read aloud because you could give each of them their own unique voice. It was also an exciting read because you weren't quite sure what was going to happen. We most recently started on the meerkat book. I don't know a lot about these animals, but I'm sure I will learn as I read about the adventure these critters have.
The Awesome Animals series is truly an enjoyable series your young readers and you will have fun reading. And the books are educational, but not ever boring because all those animal facts are part of the amazing storytelling. To learn more about these books and the newest books in the Awesome Animals series visit Barron's.
Disclosure: I received a set of the Awesome Animals series in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are 100% mine.
