We eat a lot of popcorn at our house. It gets packed in my son's school lunches, it goes to parades and outdoor concerts with us and of course it is a must for family movie night. There are many reasons why we love Jolly Time brand pop corn. First of all, it's an Iowa company. I love when products I love are made in my home state and I love when it's easy to support that company by buying their products because I like them so much. Next, it's reasonably priced. Jolly Time has a standard retail price of $2.69 for a 3-pack but I see sales often to get it for less. I think most importantly though we love Jolly Time because it's great tasting popcorn.
My family recently had the chance to two new flavors of Jolly Time Pop Corn that are made with Smart Balance, Butter and Butter Light. Because they are made with the Smart Balance unique blend of oils both products have zero grams of trans fat naturally and no hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oil. The snack is also gluten free and easy way to add whole grains into a diet. That is yet another reason I'm a fan.
I'll be honest I didn't share much of the Butter Light variety with the family. Popcorn is still a back-up lunch for me at times when we are lacking leftovers and I don't want to eat what the kids are having. Plus when I eat popcorn for lunch I'm often multi-tasking and doing other things. Not many other lunch options allow me to do that. The Butter Light popcorn is definitely not light on flavor. It was very good and with less calories and with much less saturated fat than other brands I will be making sure this is what I keep on hand for myself. When the kids dipped their hands on it they had no trouble gobbling it up and liked it as well. Jolly Time Butter popcorn traveled with us a couple of times recently. We took it to a parade the evening before the 4th of July and it also came along to the park with us on the 4th when we went to see fireworks. I like taking popcorn on the go because it's easy, mostly mess-free and it fills the kids tummies so there aren't complaints of being hungry while we're waiting for our events to start. The popcorn was very buttery and tasty and it didn't take long for the bags to disappear.
