Chris Mann #Roads Album Review
I am one of the few people that doesn't watch NBC's "The Voice" so although I had heard of Chris Mann via social media I had never actually heard him sing. Chris' debut album Roads was released this week on Universal records and this album was my introduction to him. I was pleasantly surprised to see many familiar songs on the album including one of my favorite songs "The Blower's Daughter". That in itself made me excited to listen to the CD.
I put in the CD while I was handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters Tuesday night and it made for some pleasant listening. The album starts off with the title track "Roads". It has great lyrics and could be considered inspirational. The second track is a cover of Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now". I love the song, but this rendition of it didn't work for me. Chris singing "I'm a little drunk, but I need you now" doesn't sound right or believeable. The next track "Cuore" I think is an original by Chris and this is the type of song he should be singing. He also sounded great on "Ave Maria". I liked his take on both "My Way" and "Always On My Mind". Hearing him sing Willie Nelson's "Always On My Mind" reminded me of what a great song that is. I need to add it to my playlist. "The Blower's Daughter" didn't dissapoint me. I liked Chris' version and even though I'm not a fan of Christina Aguilera I didn't mind her part in it. The album closed with a cover of Coldplay's "Viva La Vida". This is another song I'm a fan of. It's a "big" song and he didn't let it overtake him. His voice was still the focus.
Chris is a confident singer who really does have a great and powerful voice. If you were already a fan of Chris I think you'll be a fan of this album. If this review is your introduction to Chris and you're looking for a CD that's easy to listen from first track to the end then Roads is definitely an album for you to check out.
Roads is available to buy now both on iTunes and Amazon.
Disclosure: This is a review post from One2One Network. I was provided with a copy of the album and I am eligible for a prize drawing. All opinions stated are my own.
