Our family loves to travel but we can really only afford to take one week long vacation during the year. One of the reasons I love living in Des Moines is because we are within an easy driving distance of so many fun Midwest cities. So even though we can't be taking major vacations we can often taken weekend road trips or a few days to get out of town and satisfy the travel itch. Omaha is an easy drive under 2 hours away for us. We've been spending a weekend in Omaha every year since my son was a toddler. We usually leave early on a Saturday morning and spend the day at the Henry Doorly Zoo, go out to dinner at the Old Market or order pizza and swim in the hotel pool. Sunday often includes a visit to a farmers market, the Children's Museum or the trains by Lauritzen Gardens. We always have a great time, but there's much more to do in Omaha and we're never able to fit it all in during one weekend.
Be sure to visit the Omaha Adventure site to start planning your Omaha trip and I've got a great giveaway to help you save on your next visit there. Five readers will each receive their own Omaha Adventure coupon book with over $50 in savings in it.
