My hubby and I have always loved playing games together and with family and friends. We share our love of games with our kids and it's been fun being able to play more games with them as they get older. Sometimes it can be hard finding games that adults and kids can both enjoy playing together with neither one being bored. Reverse Charades is a game that keeps all ages involved and working together, so that everyone has fun.
Reverse Charades is just what it sounds like. Take the classic game of charades where one person acts out the clue for the rest of the team and reverse it so now you have most of the team acting it out for the team "guesser". I think it's better than regular charades because it keeps the players more involved and there is a greater sense of working together and doing something as a team.
Here are the Rules of Play:
1. Split into teams of three or more and decide on the number of rounds or number of points to win the game.
2. Score 1 point for 1 word guessed correctly. Each team has a minute to guess as many words as possible. You can pass only once per round.
3. The opposite team holds the word card for the acting team to see and flips the timer.
4. The acting team members are not allowed to talk or even "mouth" any words to each other and definitely not to the guesser. Use of objects is not allowed either.
5. Keep track of your points and whoever reaches the goal or has the most points at end of desired number of rounds, wins!
I love that Reverse Charades has a junior edition that has words that are easier for kids to act out. The game is suggested for ages 6 and up. My 6 year old son who's learning to read needed help with many of the words, but still loved trying to act them out. I will say that not talking was not one of the rules he could follow!
If you love playing party games and playing games with a group of people Reverse Charades is definitely a game you should check out. The game has won a number of awards. In addition to the Junior Edition they also have expansion packs that include a Sports Edition, Girls' Night In Edition and Holiday Edition. My son would have great fun acting out the words in the holiday edition! Learn more about all of their products by visiting ReverseCharades.com or Reverse Charades on Facebook.
