Book Review: I Believe in You by Marianne Richmond

I Believe in You written and illustrated by Marianne Richmond

Description:  "Growning up is a roller coaster ride of emotion and adventure, at times requiring a child to show self-confidence and courage that they may not know they have.  Marianne Richmond uses her signature uplifting style to show in I Believe in You that you can always be there with support and unconditional love as children navigate the road of life."

My Review:  I had previously reviewed Marianne's The Night Night Book, so I was glad to be able to review another one of the author's books.  While I enjoyed this book just as much as The Night Night Book I should point out it is for a little bit older audience.  This book is great to read to my 5 year old son because he understands what it means when I read: "When your project seems too hard, and you want to go to bed, I believe in your smart thinking to learn and grow instead."  My 2 year-old daughter still enjoys listening to the book and looking at the pictures, but the message is over her head right now.

As a parent of a kindergartener I truly loved this book.  My son is growing up before my eyes and he's learning so much so fast that I can hardly keep up with it all.  Reading this book together is a great way to reinforce to him how much I love him and how proud I am of him even when he may make wrong decisions or has rough days.  The book honestly says so many things that I might never have said out loud on my own, but that I feel.  I love the positive message of the book and I also love the illustrations.  The images in the book are all things most kids can relate to ~ riding the school bus, playing sports, playing at the playground, swimming and the one my son is into the most right now riding a bicycle.

I Believe in You is a wonderful read for all parents and caretakers.  You can find it on Amazon as well as other book retailers.

Visit Marianne Richmond's website to learn more about the author and her other titles.  You can also check out my review of Marianne's The Night Night Book.

  2. Stopping by from STT... This sounds like a book we need! My almost 5 yo girl has such a hard time understanding that it's ok to make mistakes or make the wrong choices. She get's so frustrated with herself. It's definitely something we work on constantly, and this sounds like a great tool to add to our arsenal.
