As I have confessed before I am not the cook in our household. Although we do most all meal planning together my hubby is the actual chef. Since he does work full time getting meals on the table can be a bit of a challenge on nights when we need to dash off to swim lessons, gymnastics or soccer. You know the drill. In the winter we tend to eat a lot more of comfort foods, mashed potatoes, noodles, and soups so our crock pot sees a lot more action. Over the last few weeks we've been trying out some crock pot meals using some mixes from Crock-Pot Seasonings that we received.
Crock-Pot Seasonings makes three varieties of mixes:
- Hearty Beef Stew
- BBQ Pulled Pork
- Savory Pot Roast
For my hubby the mixes work great because he no longer has to set out a bunch of different seasonings the night before in the hopes of not forgetting one as he puts the meal in the crock pot before he leaves for work. It's a time saving convenience that tastes great too.
We first tried BBQ pulled pork seasoning mix when we made pulled pork sandwiches to serve when hosting small group at our house. The seasoning added a lot of flavor to the meat. We didn't have a roast on hand when we used the Savory Pot Roast mix, but used pork chops instead. We placed the chops over carrots and potatoes then poured the liquid mix on top. It turned out great and more flavorful than our usual roast. It definitely added something to the potatoes as well. We're planning on using the Hearty Beef Stew mix with beef stew meat, carrots, celery and noodles for a new take on Beef & Noodles. I'm looking forward to trying it.
