Visit Texas On Tour

Texas Tourism is out on the road this year with the Texas on Tour Exhibit.  This traveling exhibit features a 5,400 square foot interactive experience, a 30-foot dome enclosed theater, green screen and video photography, games, live music and more.
My family had a chance to visit Texas on Tour when it was at the Iowa State Fair recently. The exhibit looked interesting and we were curious, so we had to check it out.  First we registered and were given an all access pass to the exhibit experiences.  We weren't quite sure what to do first, but the kayak setup to take a virtual tour of Texas waterways looked cool so we headed that way.  However our 2 year old and 5 year old had other ideas and didn't allow us to wait in line to experience it.  Instead, one of the friendly Texas tour guides directed us inside so could "picture ourselves in Texas."
My son picked out the background for our Texas family portrait.  Both of the kids were wearing green shirts that day which would have made most of them disappear from the green screen so that explains their picture attire.  If you like to dress up they've got you covered!  After getting our picture taken we wanted to check out the dome theatre and while we were waiting outside my son and hubby were entertained playing cornhole.  They could have stayed and played a lot longer!  We enjoyed watching the Discover Texas feature and the trivia game that followed.  The kids got their own Texas bandanas for playing! After the dome experience though our time in Texas had to come to an end.  It was the Iowa State Fair after all and there was still lots to see and do!

If you get a chance you should definitely check out the Texas on Tour exhibit.  It will be at the Minnesota State Fair starting tomorrow August 25th through September 5th.  Additional tour dates include the Kansas State Fair from September 9-18 and the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta October 1-9.
I've only been to Texas once. I traveled to San Antonio on a service trip as a teenager.  I absolutely loved what I saw of the city and hope to go back someday.  If a trip to Texas sounds good to you enter the Texas on Tour Sweepstakes for your chance to win a trip for two to Texas.
