We love Mexican food at our house and one of our favorite places to get a taco in Des Moines is at Tasty Tacos. We can't be going out to eat every time that craving comes on though, so instead we make our own fry bread tacos. It starts with finding some cheap refridgerated biscuits. We can usually find 8 count tubes at Fareway 2 for 89 cents. (Today Fareway had a couple tubes of Pillsbury Grands Biscuits marked down to $0.25 each!)
Fry Bread Tacos
Refridgerated Biscuits 10 small = 5 taco shells
1 lb. ground beef
1 med. onion
1/2 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. chili powder
Brown beef in skillet with onion until fully cooked. Add seasonings to meat.
Roll out or pat biscuits into about 7" rounds on floured surface (no need to be perfect circles!) Heat 1/2 cup oil in 8" or 10" skillet over medium heat. Fry biscuits individually for about a minute on each side or until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels.
These look amazing! I love fry bread, but have never made it.
