I have no idea how this meal was named, but we found it in our favorite church cookbook. Warning - this is not one for the health conscious.
Tim's Taco Salad
1 1/2 lb. hamburger
1 cup chopped green pepper
1 1/2 c. chopped onion
6-8 dashes of cumin
1 T. chili powder
1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies
1 head lettuce
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 bag Fritos Corn Chips
2 cups shredded Mexican style cheese
Brown and drain hamburger in a large skillet. Add peppers and onion. Cook until onions are clear. Add chili powder and cumin. In a separate pan, melt cheese and canned tomatoes over low heat. In a large bowl, place torn lettuce, chopped tomatoes, then corn chips. Combine meat with cheese mixture and serve over the lettuce/corn chips mixture.
I love taco salad. I would say it is one of my favorites.
