ReplyDeleteI was lucky to have the best mom in the world, who I miss terribly even after 10 years without her. I am lucky to have the three sweetest, kindest, most beautiful daughters in the world. I'm lucky to have the greatest furbabies, although I lost my deaf hound girl, Ran last year (way too young - that was unlucky) and our senior cat a few weeks ago (he was old and it was his time). I wish I had been lucky enough to win that huge Powerball lottery prize earlier this year - I would love to reopen my dog rescue and expand to include other animals and help save many, many more.

ReplyDeleteFor the past handful of years, I've had a run of what one might call just terrible "bad luck." Just... bad things have happened. But I don't consider myself to be "unlucky."
ReplyDelete...I know, I know; today is St. Patrick's Day and all, and it's not the coolest thing to say that "I don't really believe in luck." Rather than looking at things in terms of "luck" or "good-luck charms," I've found that it works better for me to frame things in terms of strength. (I'll note that I'm coming from a Clinical Psych background.) For example, I'd ask a family member or close friend to think good thoughts of me at a certain date/time because that's when I'd be taking exams. --> It bolstered my strength, and gave me the feeling that I had someone/people on my side to support and believe in me. Also, I'll sometimes carry with me what one might call a "lucky charm" when I feel that I need a boost of strength. Just a small, personal token-- even a little pebble from a beach, that someone collected for me. These kinds of things help me feel a bit stronger, and thus help me feel like I'm going to have a more positive outcome... Or, be a bit "luckier"! // (Yikes, I feel like I just wrote a short essay. Also, it's almost 6am and I haven't been to sleep yet. Hooray?) :p ...Happy Holiday, everyone!

ReplyDeleteOne summer when i was younger, i worked for a town, one day the town had me weed eating grass around the train tracks. The gas powered weed eater was so loud that i couldn`t hear anything. After i was done one patch of grass, i moved off the tracks and a split second later a train went barreling by. Now that is lucky.

We were right behind home plate and it was awesome! I was able to bring my two brothers to the game with me (and my husband) and it was just after my Dad passed away.
