Gorton's products have been a freezer staple in our household for years now. We love many of their products because they make it so easy for us to serve up a tasty and quick meal. If there are nights when our meal planning fails or plans change we know we can heat up some Gorton's fillets in the oven, make a quick side and have a delicious meal in no time. Our favorite Gorton's products include the Potato Crunch Fillets, Beer Battered Fillets and of course with kids in the house we can't forget the fish sticks.
Since it's Lenten season we are even more intentional about our fish consumption so it is a perfect time to try a new variety of Gorton's fillets. Their newest product line are Gorton's Artisan Fillets and they come in four different varieties. We recently tried two of them, the Roasted Garlic & Italian Herb and the Lemon & Cracked Peppercorn.
One of the things that makes Gorton's so fabulous is that you don't have to do anything to prepare it. Preheat your oven, remove the fish from the box and place on a cookie sheet until done. And with the Roasted Garlic & Italian Herb you'll know from how good it smells when it's done.
The fish had a great flavor to it. I liked the mix of seasonings on it and the fish had the great crunch from the breading that our family prefers. We served it up on Ash Wednesday with some home cut oven fries and salads.
Last Friday night my hubby and I were on our own for dinner. It ended up getting made it no time by roasting up some cauliflower and heating up Lemon & Cracked Peppercorn Artisan Fillets. We liked the peppery flavor and of course these fillets had the same great crunch. We caught a little lemon scent but it definitely wasn't very strong so if you're not a lemon fan don't let this flavor deter you. The pepper is what stands out on these fillets.
