Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns About Courage Children's Book Review & Giveaway
Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns About Courage is the newest book in the HBW series and features our favorite bunny learning about facing his fears with courage. This is the third Howard B. Wigglebottom book my family has read and Howard is now a familiar character to my kids. They always look forward to seeing what kind of silliness Howard is up to in the illustrations and I look forward to reading a book that has a positive message. In this book I loved that the overall message is one of my favorite mantras "Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway" or in Howard's case, "I'm brave. I was afraid but I did it anyway." I think the story shares a very important lesson that everyone is afraid of something and that is okay, but you can't allow that fear to stop you from experiencing new things. My kids haven't been afraid of much yet, but I know that when the time comes this book offers some great talking points. With the story as our spring board we can talk about how superheroes, firefighters, police officers and more are brave.
Both my 4 year old daughter and 6 year old son listened to the story, but I would say my son enjoyed it the most. The pictures of superheroes on the cover sparked his interest immediately and the rest of the illustrations didn't disappoint him. He of course loved the silly one where Howard is afraid of the toilet and it shows him in the toilet, but he also really liked the pictures with the baby bird learning to fly. The baby bird in the story was my daughter's favorite part.
