Innovative Online Book Tours Review ~ Nate Rocks the World

Welcome to Confessions of a Frugal Mind's Innovative Online Book Tours review stop as part of Karen Pokraz Toz's children's book Nate Rocks the World virtual book tour. Keep reading to learn more information about the book and my review.

Blurb:
Ten-year-old Nathan Rockledge cannot catch a break. After all, life as a fourth-grader can be hazardous what with science projects to deal with and recess football games to avoid. Everyone, including his best friend Tommy, seems to have bad luck when hanging around Nathan. Throw in an older sister who is a royal pain, a dad who is stuck in the past, and a mom who keeps trying to poison him with her awful cooking, and poor Nathan’s life as a fourth grader appears to be completely doomed. Armed only with his sketchpad, his imagination, and his wits, Nathan Rockledge navigates the perils of the fourth grade in style, to emerge heroic, as Nate Rocks, proving that even a ten-year-old can accomplish great things.

My Review:
I started reading Nate Rocks the World with my 6 year old son.  We read chapter books together often and he has a good attention span.  He liked that the story started by talking about a baseball game and he loved all the parts where Nate talked about Disney World and visited Disney World.  That is one of T's favorite places.  He also really enjoyed all the mentions of a superhero, pirate costumes and all things boy.  The book is aimed at kids a little older than my son, so I think he will appreciate the story line more when he reads it on his own.

My son would have liked some pictures, but the author's descriptions make it very easy to visualize the story in your head.  I definitely think the character Nate Rocks is someone a lot of kids can relate to.  The story has a quick pace as it follows Nate through several months of the school year.  I found myself most interested in Nate's interactions with his family while my son enjoyed Nate's fantasies.  It's a book I will encourage him to read on his own when the time comes.
