The giveaway here at Confessions of a Frugal Mind is for an EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale!
Since 2005 the EatSmart company has been dedicated to creating tools that are easy to use and support a healthy lifestyle. They make three different kitchen scale products. I had the chance to use their Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale. The scale comes with a Calorie Factor & Instruction Booklet and I appreciated that batteries were also included. We were able to pull it out of the box and start using it right away.
My mom gave us a couple bunches of rhubarb and we hoped to try out a new recipe we had found for a Honey Rhubarb Crumble. The recipe called for 24 oz. of rhubarb. Using the scale it was easy to find that we had enough rhubarb to give the recipe a try. We set the scale to ounces and set the bunches right on it to weigh.
The scale only has 2 buttons, so it is really easy to use. One button is used to change the unit you'd like to measure in. The scale has four units of measurement: grams, kilograms, ounces and pounds. The other button is used to turn it on or off and has the Tare function. This allows you to return the scale to zero at any time. We used this function to zero out the mixing bowl for our rhubarb dessert. I needed 1/4 cup of honey for the recipe. The scale saved me from getting a measuring cup dirty and sticky from the honey. Instead I was able to pour honey right into the bowl and easily know when I had my 2 oz. that I needed.
The scale was a helpful tool in the kitchen when making this recipe and will be great to have around for those recipes that call for precise measurements. For those who are dieting I think the scale is the perfect tool for portion control and calorie counting. I love that the scale is small and compact. We easily found a place to store it with quick access. I also think that having a scale like this in the house will be convenient in the future. It would work great as a quick postal scale and I imagine there will be school projects in our future where we're going to be mighty glad we have a scale on hand.
Another awesome thing I need to mention about this company is that they donate a portion of their proceeds every month to a selected charity. Gotta love companies that give back.
