Monkey Mat ~ Portable Floor Review

There is rarely a weekend that goes by from Spring to Fall where my family doesn't have a reason to be outside together.  The kids' activities keep us busy of course, but when those things aren't going on we like to be on the go doing other things. I knew as soon as I saw a Monkey Mat that we needed to have one because it would be a perfect accompaniment to our busy family. We have used it many times and keep it in the car now so it's ready to go when we are.

You may recognize the name Monkey Mat from when it was featured on Shark Tank.   It was created to be a go-everywhere mat that you can take anywhere you want to have your own clean space.  I think the best part about Monkey Mat is that it is super-compact.  It comes attached to a little pouch that is so easy to transport.  I love that I'm able to toss the whole mat in my purse when we're on the go rather than having to drag our bulky blanket under my arm.  My hands are usually full enough with water bottles, toddler snacks and the toddler so having one less thing is awesome.

Another nice feature is that the Monkey Mat has weighted corners with loops for stakes.  So if you get a set of stakes along with it you can put those in the ground and don't have to worry about your ground cover bunching up under you or sliding all around.  I'm very excited to use this at parades because it seems I'm always trying to straighten the blanket the kiddos are on.

We've used the mat a few times at my daughter's soccer games.  She sometimes plays on turf which we're not allowed to have chairs on.  I don't use the stakes on the turf but the mat is still nicer than a blanket because any pieces of turf just brushes right off of the mat versus sticking on the blanket that we used to bring.

Monkey Mats are water repellent so if you spill liquid it's easy to wipe right off versus getting stuck with a wet blanket.  The mat is also machine washable which is awesome since I had some muddy cleats on it last weekend.

The center of the mat has extra loops so you can hook on keys or toys for little ones and you won't have to worry about losing them on the ground.  The mat itself is a nylon material that feels pretty soft and comfortable.

I really wish we had the Monkey Mat during our lake trip.  It would have been great for on the beach.  I'm glad though that we'll have it for next time.
