Light in the Dark Puzzle Game App Review and Giveaway

My baby boy is now 7 months old.  I honestly can't believe how fast time flies. Of course since I'm a nursing mommy a good chunk of that time has been spent feeding him.  I've always tried to use that time to be somewhat productive and catch up on magazines or dive into a good book, but I have to confess some days my mind wants to go somewhere else.  That's when I grab my phone and open up an app to pass the time.  I don't play a lot of games, but the ones I do like are challenging and also a little bit addicting.  Light in the Dark, a new app from Dreamgate Studios is one those apps.

Light in the Dark is a color blending puzzle game.  You must control the light, bend it and reflect it by swiping your screen.  You collect stars that open up new levels as you advance.

The game begins with the discovery that the cute babies of Totems, a colorful undiscovered species, have lost their way in an ancient labyrinth tomb.  Gamers must help the children reunite with the parents. Baby Totems are only reunited with their parents when basking in the glow of their own preferred hue.  To create colors which are different from those emitted by adult Totems, players blend the light of the parents with each other.  Players must solve perplexing puzzles and avoid dangerous but equally adorable enemies including mummies and sandmen.  Villains force players to make moves quickly as these treacherous opponents can end a level after a certain amount of time has passed or tackle parent Totems.

I like that the game is family-friendly because you can bet that if I'm playing something on my phone my older two kids are going to want to check it out and play it too.  My son had my phone and was playing the game for a long time on our drive back from Omaha last weekend.  He was pretty quiet playing it.  I liked that it wasn't a game that made him feel aggressive or want to yell.  I could tell he was thinking about what he was doing.  He said it wasn't like most of the games he plays.  He liked it, but did admit it got challenging for him.  He wants to play again though.

Heck, it got challenging for me and I'm pretty sure I haven't advanced very far. I haven't encountered any of the villains yet, so I know it's only going to get trickier.  You can get hints.  You get a few for free or you have to pay or watch ads.

Light in the Dark is available now for your device for $1.99.
