Rock 'n Learn ~ Letter Sounds DVD Review and Giveaway

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Mom Blog Society. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

The Rock n Learn company was created in 1986 when the founders saw a need for entertaining educational programs that would hold the interest of students and show results.  Rock 'N Learn now has over 50 products to help students learn math, phonics, reading, early childhood, social studies, Spanish, test-taking strategies, writing, and science.   All of the DVDs utilize music along with colorful images as tools in the learning process.

My family received a copy of the Letter Sounds DVD to review.  Letter Sounds is designed to help kids ages 4-7 learn to read.  As soon as my 5 year old son saw the cover of it he wanted to watch it right away, so the images definitely grabbed his attention.  The first time he watched he did more dancing along to it than anything else, but he was watching the whole time.  The second time he watched he was also singing along and trying to beat the characters at the letter sounds games they played.
My Thoughts:   I'm a firm believer in the vital role that music plays in the education process, so I love that it is a key element of the Rock n Learn products.  The DVD runs for about an hour so it can seem a little long, but I liked the variety of songs and games included that mix it up.

For my 5 year old who already knows his alphabet and letter sounds I really like that the DVD includes common sight words and forming sentences.  He is entering kindergarten this fall and this DVD will be an easy way we can review those skills during the summer months.  My 3 year old is starting to learn her alphabet so for her the DVD is a fun way to introduce it to her and will be a tool for her to learn what sounds each alphabet letter makes.  My son loved the "silly sentences" part of the DVD and both kids loved "The New Alphabet Song".

The Giveaway: Thanks to Rock 'n Learn one lucky reader will receive their own copy of the Rock 'n Learn Letter Sounds dvd.  Rock 'n Learn is also offering a 25% discount at www.rocknlearn.com.  Be sure to use promo code JQ7711.
