Half Off at 801 Chophouse

Wow - I've never seen a half off deal for 801.  That is probably why I've never been there.  Today's Groupon deal for Des Moines will get you $80 worth of food and drink for only $40.  You'll need to read the restrictions - a reservation is required and it expires May 16, 2011.

If you are new to Groupon you can sign up HERE to receive the daily deals for your city.

  1. I bought this and time has gone by quickly. The coupon expires this coming Monday and we are having a hard time fitting in this formal dinner. There are several downsides to consider:

    1. As stated, it's a bit more involved than just hitting up Chili's with the wife.

    2. The quick expiration date. I'm fairly new to groupon, but most bigger ticket items seem to have longer expiration dates.

    3. The 801 Chophouse is constantly full. I've had a hard time getting a reservation. They must have sold a lot of them.

So, I called them and asked about extending it. No way apparently. That's too bad. I'd call that bad customer service. I'm scheduled at an inconvenient time and will try to make it to use our groupon -- but am already disappointed in the chophouse. The above points should have been considered.

  2. Update: I did a little more research. Here's the link for the groupon:

So - they sold 1758 of these. Given the date of the groupon was 2/15 - that is 90 days to use it.

1758 divided by 90 gives us an average of almost 20 a day to be redeemed.

I wonder how many will go unredeemed? How many will expire? This seems like an improbable amount.

Can groupon track this? It would be interesting to know the statistics for expired coupons.
